Wife has broken down (luckily within walking distance of her parents house), the clutch has gone. Garage says it's probably a leak in the hydraulics, which could be one of two things. Either a simple leak "at the front" which should be a quick job, or it's right in the gearbox which sounds expensive... I hope I can find the warranty thing I took out if it's that. I bet it doesn't pay out, or is hugely inconvenient or the garage won't accept it or something like that.
Either way I have to get the car, and try and get it to the garage. I hope Clare is exaggerating how bad it is and that I can drive it OK...
WAIT A MOMENT this actually is our car 1! Oh no, just very similar. We didn't pay that much for it...
UPDATE: Got the car home OK though the clutch was a bit funny to start with like there was no pressure. Have dug out my warranty 2 just in case it is worth the paper it is printed on...
