My esteemed colleague Gav 1 is right, the ipad is the new ie6, we are having to put horrible hacks in our code like this 2 to get around the fact that a) apple / ipad / iphone are breaking normal browser behaviour and b) they are enormously popular so if your stuff doesn't work on their platform (even though you're doing it right) then you're doing it wrong.
