I tried to extend my arduino experiment today, I soldered together a long cable with some batteries and a LM35 temperature gauge at one end, and connected it up to my "show a different light based on the temperature" arduino setup. The plan was to put the sensor out in the garden to keep an eye on the temperature in the bird box. Did not work at all. I think it was trying to use a separate power supply, not having the common ground. Could just be the dodgy soldering though.
There was a bird back in the bird box again today, which was nice.
