I'm after some new shorts, and if I'm going to the bother of buying new clothes I want them to be ace, and high tech, and last forever and fulfill all sorts of futuristic functions I can't imagine yet. I'll be keeping them on from May until November so they have to earn their keep. I have not been able to find any that have a built in emergency life raft or anything yet, but have narrowed it down to these:
Scott E Vest hidden cargo shorts 1 - these look more like street ware than beachware but might do the job. I liked their jackets with hidden networking and solar panels that I linked to a billion years ago. These are less exciting than the original prospects. And they don't ship to the UK.
Clothing Arts pick-pocket-proof adventure travel shorts 2 - I like the level of detail that has gone into the pockets here, and they do ship to the UK, but it's another $35. Might get them sent to Kev's house.
Fjallraven Barents Pro Shorts 3 - yeah no amateur shorts for me. These have an AXE POCKET, very handy on the beach. Slightly concerned about the different coloured panel at the back that they don't show in a lot of the pictures, but these could be the winner.
Fjallraven No 5 4 - mostly it's the price that impresses me here, 135 quid these have surely got to have some secret feature that they can't advertise. They can't just be shorts can they? I think I'm going to sell some of Clare's stuff she doesn't wear and get these.
On the subject of beach tech though this sounded good at first 5, a beach mat that includes solar powered usb charging and a drinks cooler! But a) it's not available yet, it's an indiegogo (like kickstarter) b) the solar charger sounds pretty slow and c) the drinks cooler is not solar powered, it's just a hollow in the pillow, so the drinks are not cooled, only sheltered from the heat of the sun...
Woah also smart surfboard 6. I would like an ironing board version of this.
