Blog2020 ≫ I just removed my first LightwaveRF device

We started on the LightwaveRF journey just over ten years ago, when we moved into this house. We needed a dimmable light in the baby's room. Hmm I can sneak in some of this home automation remote control larkery here can't I? So first we had the one dimmable socket 1, and maybe a remote control.

I'm replacing everything with mostly IKEA dimmable bulbs, which means I need non dimmable switches, and ideally no light switches, as I mentioned before).

Today I've put in one colour changing LED bulb, one remote controlled reading lamp, and the sound sensitive colour changing led strip 2 in that room, and I'm one more step towards removing LightwaveRF from the house. So long old friend!

Baby is about to start secondary school.

I should be doing something more useful, not messing about with the electrics. I thought I'd done all my jobs for the day ready for my jolly boys' outing this afternoon, but Clare reminds me I should be looking at holiday options.

Ooh gig history for today, twenty-nine years ago today 3 I was at my first Monsters Of Rock, with AC/DC, Metallica, and Motely Crue, and nineteen years ago today I was at Guildford Festival seeing Pulp and Tindersticks.

  3. Uh not actually today, I had this gig down for years as the wrong date. I fixed it just after this when I scanned in the ticket, but I don't want to interrupt the flow of this so let's leave this mistake to stand. I've fixed the link now at least.
