Bit of early excitement today "how do we open the safe if the battery has gone and it's just beeping?". It's an electronic safe that Clare bought me many years ago, there are batteries inside the keypad, and I don't think I've ever changed them. I'm sure there's a key backup but I don't know where the keyhole or the key is. Found some old keys, tried them, nothing fits. Kept trying the likeliest looking one, and it did eventually turn, phew. Clare needed her passport out for a work thing.
Now I've replaced the batteries it has reset the combination. I can't remember how to set it again, I don't know the make of the safe, it has no markings on it. At least I was smart enough to take everything out of it before testing the combination again. There's only one key and if it had snapped or something with important documents inside I'd be in trouble.
Busy day today, got a preliminary telephone interview later, and a trip to the tip before that. I have messed up the trip to the tip already, I registered the other car and of course Clare is at work, so wondering if they'll turn me away. Still, if I had to mess up one thing today I'm glad it's that. Have already done the school run, some shopping, made tonight's penne arrabiata, and cleaned the bathrooms before even 10am coffee. Then the doorbell rang, will it be an exciting delivery? Sort of but it was the groceries rather than the new mask I have bought on ebay...

UPDATE: Good grief this safe is not safe. A quick youtube shows other many ways to open it. It did also show how to reset the code too. There is nothing of real value in our safe, it's just a convenient place to store passports and documents so we know where they are...
