After sorting out some work stuff in the morning 1, I went for a nice pub walk yesterday afternoon. We walked along the sea front and up the Old High Street, a slight detour on the way to our first planned pub to see The Banksy. "Art Buff" was painted near Payers Park by the mysterious graffiti artist in 2014, an unofficial contribution to the Triennial. It was fairly swiftly cut down and put on sale by the family of Jimmy Godden. There was an injunction and a legal battle and now we the people have it back in the town. It's behind glass, but quite accessible.
From there we walked up to the planned first stop, The Firkin Alehouse, then back down through the town again to The Folkestone Beer Shop. They sell packets of mini gerkhins alongside their crisps there, lovely. They only had one cask ale and looking back it was a bit strong for me. They have an amazing range of other types of beers, but we just had the one. Then up to The East Cliff Tavern, then The Lifeboat, and finally a taxi back to The Inn Doors. This was quite an epic adventure, more beers than I had originally planned. It does explain why I fell asleep within seconds of getting back in the house.
We're off to Canterbury today, only for lunch really.
I got some new comics too, more copies of Marvel's 1602 series, though I'm still missing number three.
On the subject of ebay, I'm thinking of buying a sweet vending machine 2. Can I make it pay for itself? Get the boys to buy their own sweets?
A popular date for gigs, I have a few anniversaries today. Gouge in 1995 (though I strangely have a Catherine Wheel ticket for that same day), Camden Crawl in 1996, and David Devant in 1998.
