Got a poorly boy again and it seems like the same symptoms as last time, feverish and vomiting, can't keep any food down and not much liquid. Called the GP for an appointment, hard to get through but eventually they said they couldn't even do a phone consultation until 10am, so best thing is to call 111 and say the GP said to refer us to the urgent treatment centre at the hospital. Called 111 they said they just have to go through their script first, and that would not let them refer us to that hospital but said we should go to the walk in centre at midday. They do not have access to the notes or history. Called the GP back, while I was on hold there the recorded message said it would be quicker to do the "econsult" on the GP's website. Cunningly this time I did it while I was still on hold. Does he have a new dry cough? No. Has he had a bump on the head? No. The end result was that I should call my GP or call 111. The GP answered in the end and said yes the walk in centre was probably best after all.
We have an arrival time (not an appointment time) of midday at the walk in centre. I'm worried that we'll get there and they don't have access to his notes and it'll all start again. Has he had a bump on the head? No he was hospitalised with an infection. Does he have a new dry cough? No he was hospitalised with an infection. Has he had a bump on the head? Man alive this system is not working for us.
I know everything is under more pressure because of coronavirus but these scripted computer systems don't seem to work.
