Beer52 just phoned me, would I like two free beers? This could get out of control, I said no thanks. The original pack was 8 beers a month, pay only £6 for postage for the first box, then I upgraded to £5 for another 2 beers, as I am a soft touch. Month two should be £24 I think for 8 beers plus the two extra beers for another fiver, so £29 including postage. Now this month they want to up it to twelve beers, initially two free. They're going to keep doing this every month, soon there would not be enough room in the house for it all, so I'm getting out. I like getting different beers to try, but the hit rate has not been quite good enough, and I can do that locally, or by just picking my own beers online 1. So I'm canning it.
(canning it, GEDDIT???)
When you try to cancel online they immediately offer a fiver off the next box, or you can pause it for a month, or switch to bi-monthly. Hmm that probably means two deliveries a month instead of every two months knowing them...
I remember now I did choose the "only vegan beers" option - and I really appreciate that it was clearly marked out like that - so maybe the better beers all have an egg in the can?
I really liked one from the last box, an IPA from Croatia, but out of 10 that's not good enough to keep a direct debit going. I phoned to cancel, they offered me another fiver off the next box, but I've canned it for now.
It was worth a try, 8 beers you don't see in the shops for £6 for the first month (if you find a voucher code, and they're everywhere), you might get luckier. I have another nine left from this month's box, and they might be delicious, and they will send me another invite to join up again I know, just like Amazon Prime keep doing.
The money I have saved I have just spent on a garden waste collection, because I am a middle aged man. Thinking of booking a cleaner too, as if I try and sit down at the weekend I hear complaints about everything needing doing... Hey is that one thing actually off my list? It is, and nearly two! Nearly three, as I did get more IKEA bulbs, just not the ones I said for the hallway. Still thinking of that one because of the more complicated two way set up. I got another IKEA delivery yesterday so have put new colour changing lamps in the boys rooms, and at the weekend I have the new three bulb ceiling light for thing one's room.
In other achievements I bought a new hammer 2 3 and I put some more stuff up on Freecycle now it is open again and I'm clearing some space in the study.
