We headed off on a secret trip to Portchester on Saturday morning, trying not to let slip so we could surprise Mum for her birthday, and Dad for fathers day. Happy birthday today Mum!
Journey there was fine, we slowed right down on the M25 but just at the point we were going to come off at Cobham services anyway. We took a break for lunch, got some nice pasties, and the rest of the journey was fine.
We drove straight into the Premier Inn behind the Harbour Lights pub where I used to work. We were trying to make it more of a surprise and us less of a burden by having a night in a hotel. Plus then we'd do dinner and cinema and pubs in Port Solent and all would be lovely. It turns out the weather had other plans for us, and without the weather Port Solent is not such a nice place to hang out. It was OK, but with hindsight we should have gone for Gunwharf instead. The film was ok, good for thing two anyway, Peter Rabbit 1 2, we were never expecting much. The dinner at Zizzi was average too, they were super because of Fathers Day I think, and they were sold out of things, and it was just all not brilliant. We went to the pub before the film, but sat outside and they out of things and it was hard to order at the table and we couldn't get in again after as it was so busy. Loads of people out and about, just a shame it wasn't a bit sunnier.
The next day though was great! After we surprised Mum and Dad we went over to Kez and Rob's for a delightful lunch in the garden. Nice to see everyone, very well looked after by Kez, and the boys really enjoyed playing in the garden.
I snoozed most of the way home too which made it go very quickly.
The weather has turned poor again today, quite heavy rain here. Both boys have gone off to school OK. I have leftover Nine Dragons for my lunch, work is going ok, and everything is right with the world. Oh, apart from the cryptocurrency, it's gone down the toilet. Still pay day this week, I can buy more!
