Yeah I know I already had my last birthday before a big birthday, but the last of my college cohort just had his too. So that's the last of my year having their last birthday before we start turning fifty. I don't know if you have noticed but it literally seems to get closer every day.
I have been criticising the kids for talking like young people and saying literally too much, generally when they don't mean literally. Above there I was using it for comic effect but also I think I used it correctly. I am literally William Shakespeare. That time I did not use it correctly.
Work is still very busy and the talk of going back to London is becoming more frequent. It's going to be in the first week of the new school term now, for one day, but not the Tuesday. I have not confirmed if I am Wednesday, Thursday or Friday yet. It will be a gentle start anyway. I do have to go in and collect my pass and return a spare laptop and things, and it's going to be really good to start meeting people.
Sad news, Clare's great aunt Mary Clarke 1 died this week. She was ninety-six and had only just given up living at home. She moved into a care home about four weeks ago, hospital two weeks ago, and now she's moved again. She's Jim's aunt, the sister of his mother, the last survivor of that generation. She was the daughter of Walter Clarke and so the niece of the artist Harry Clarke.
The funeral is Friday, Jim is struggling with whether he can get to Ireland in time or not. There would not be many attending anyway but his brothers are out there already.
