My energy smart meter display is showing costs about 20% higher today with no good reason. I don't think the rate can have changed yet. Also the downloadable stats for energy weren't available as usual, I just got them now. So wondering if something is up. My "wake up" value was over a pound today, that's the cost of energy used (electricity and gas) by the time I get up in the morning. It's about 20% higher than usual.
I had a look at my rate, and what changing to a new fixed rate now would cost, and crikey! My direct debit is £187 per month at the moment, and I'm building up a little credit as we don't use quite that much. A new fixed rate now would be £400 a month. I think Martin Lewis the Money Saving Expert says "this is going to come down now, with the discount, and a special deal" so don't try and switch now. Hope it does, but still ready for it to go up quite a lot.
Ah actually I wonder if it could be because Clare was in about 11pm last night and then sat up, maybe she made toast and tea or put some washing on or something, all after midnight... That will show on tomorrow's graph.
Thing one is off sick from school today with the covid. I'm still wondering about going in tomorrow. I feel ok, bit short of breath, but this cough makes me sound really bad. I will give everyone on the train and in the office a scare.
Started thinking about a long weekend holiday before christmas again, like we tried and cancelled the last two years. It's sounding like Clare can get a weekend off at the right time.
