I just heard about heat pump tumble dryers, how they are twice as efficient as condenser tumble dryers. Why did I not know about them when I bought our tumble dryer a few months ago? Turns out our tumble dryer is a heat pump one. That's why it's cheaper to run! I thought it was just because it had smart sensors in and turned itself off when things were dry. Pleased with that.
Shame then that yesterday was the highest energy day ever, particularly at peak time. You can see the new red line on the graph. I might even embed this one for posterity:
Clare has gone to London today and wanted some things ready, washed and tumble dried. She's going tto the theatre and staying overnight. So several washes on and a very inefficient use of the tumble dryer on the wrong setting because she is not as good as me. Plus oven on for dinners and everything. Eight quid in one day! Probably about half what my friends are doing. If I did that every day that would still only be £250 for the month. That's a lot by historical standards, but these days not so much.
Now to figure out if we can get a more efficient washing machine. Our one is going well since I cleaned it, but it still uses a lot of energy.
I did not go out last night so as to be a bit rested for parkrun today, but also to stay in and watch the football with the family. Bit disappointing on both counts, I was still tired this morning, bit of a trundle round, but I did it.

Congratulations on completing your 103rd parkrun and your 92nd at Folkestone parkrun today. You finished in 60th place and were the 46th Male out of a field of 260 parkrunners and you came 9th in your age category VM50-54. Take a look at this week's full set of results on our website. Your PB at Folkestone parkrun remains 00:20:50. Your best time this year remains 00:21:36.
Jobs to do today. T1 has a friend over, just ran them to Sandgate Park to play football, might have to pick them up in a bit as his friend does not have a bus pass. Then I have a tip run booked to get rid of the old microwave and a few other bits, then to return the mistakenly-bought combi microwwave, then to Tesco to get pizza for tea and maybe into Folkestone too for a little christmas shop. I could do that online. There's a record shop too that I have never been in. I'm going to get the money back from that other microwave soon so I'm well in credit, I could have a little treat. A little disappointed with the Motley Crue album I got last week as it wasn't the one I really wanted. I have given Clare some ideas though so I'd have to get something that I've never mentioned before so I don't double up at christmas.
And after that relax? Maybe watch a Marvel film tonight with the boys, or see if there's anything on our Apple TV free trial before it runs out. We got six months free with the didn't-really-want-this substitute microwave but I couldn't figure out how to redeem it on our TV so we are on a week's free trial instead.
Work? Yeah work has been very busy again! Going well though I think. Will be nice to take a few days off at christmas. We're on our little holiday to Brussels and Cologne in only four weeks. I hope I have booked that time off already...
