After my chores yesterday Clare dropped me at West Hythe and I walked the nearly 10km back. It was my choice, she didn't just dump me there hoping I wouldn't find my way home. I went in two pubs.
First The Botolph's Bridge Inn. Been before, but only when it was quiet. Today it was really busy. There is a real fire in there and everyone was having their Sunday roast. More food than pub, at this time. Just a couple of other geezers at the bar talking about expensive watches. I had a nice pint, something from Adnams, not sure what, then walked on.
Next Unit1. I think you're supposed to write it #Unit1 but have I called it something lese before? Unit 1 with-a-space? Unit One? Anyway, same place, has had a bit of work done, the bar has moved. Lots of choice, all good. Another real fire, so I sat inside and nursed a pint of local session ale that I can't remember the name of.
Next the rest of the 10km walk home. Getting dark by this point so not as nice as it might have been. I thought of going in other pubs but just wanted to get home. It's only day six of Febrewery now and I am ahead of the game.
My Febrewery list so far:
Oh my new shirt arrived. It's like my other shirt no-one likes, but it's blue.
Twenty years ago today I was at The Darkness at The Barfly, doing an NME "On" night. This was when we took them for granted, loved them, but thought they'd stay at this level.
10k: Ten kilometres, about six miles in old money. Sometimes talking about 10,000 steps though, an arbitrary daily step count target.
