Blog2024 ≫ A good day of walking

Parkrun this morning, it was very hot indeed. I got there just as it was starting, started right at the back, and didn't go too fast. But I did it.

Folkestone parkrun results for event #438. Your time was 00:26:15.

Congratulations on completing your 156th parkrun and your 142nd at Folkestone parkrun today. You finished in 115th place out of a field of 365 parkrunners. You were the 98th male and came 11th in your age category VM50-54. Take a look at this week's full set of results on our website. Your PB at Folkestone parkrun remains 00:20:50. Your best time this year remains 00:23:32.

After this I dropped the boys off at grandpa's house for the day and I am free for the rest of the day. Thought of going to Canterbury but the roads are all snarled up for some reason, and it's a beautiful day here, and it seems a shame to go inland. So I walked into Folkestone, down the harbour arm. Had an orange sour beer in The Boardroom, it was odd but lovely, tasted like bucks fizz, nothing like beer. They have hand pumps in now, and the darts and shuffleboard are in, but no actual real ale yet.

Had a walk around deciding what to eat and remembered the vegan lasagne I had before in Let's Amore, so headed there, but they were not doing it. They did me a hot focaccia sandwich, and it was OK. While I was eating it a band set up outside. I assume they were called "Swinging The Lead" from the name on their t-shirts, but no idea what they sounded like as they got moved on by security before starting up. They seemed to have brought a party with them too, they looked like wedding guests. All a bit odd.

Really planned to spend some money today, it's burning a hole in my pocket, but didn't want anything in town. Might have been different in Canterbury. So I just walked home again. Did not go in another pub, did not jump on the bus to Hythe and go in a pub, did not call my friend as I was passing his house to see if he wanted to go to the pub. Instead, am home now, going to do a couple of jobs. Need to take a look at T2's bike as he needs it for bikeability at school. He never uses it, I am not sure it's even the right size for him. Hopefully just pumping the tires up and raising the saddle will do the job.

The boys are interested in exercise suddenly, they both went on the treadmill today. Well, they are interested in going running, but not actually too far or too fast so would not come to parkrun. So I said, get started on the treadmill today while I'm out, and we'll do more tomorrow when we're all home. I will have to find the 1km times that I recorded for them before and build on that again.

I have a pie for my tea, will try cooking it in the Ninja.

Sunny and a gentle breeze, 12 - 17℃.
