My tumble dryer is now speaking to me. OK it already was but now it is reporting costs, and so is the washing machine. The washing machine is cheaper to run, unsurprisingly.
That is not a full load in the tumble dryer really, it was mostly quick drying work outfits of Clare's, and our tumble dryer is smart and knows when to stop. If I put my hoodie and jeans in there say it would run for longer and cost more. Luckily I rarely wash my own clothes... I did wash and dry my furry lined Passenger shirt recently and have ruined it a bit, it has lost all it's shape. Who reads the care instructions on men's clothes?? Luckily I have four of these shirts in (only very slightly) different colours and styles.
That is an approximate cost, approximate use of energy for that device multipled by the current electricity costs. So it should be fairly accurate, it is getting the actual cost from Octopus, not some value I'm having to remember to update.
If I tried to do the same thing on the coffee machine it would be less accurate I'm sure as that runs for less than a minute. Speaking of which, time for another cup.
Estimated 1782 cups of coffee from my espresso machine 1 prob'ly comes to £1.04 per cup (including actual coffee and servicing 1 so not the 'leccy).
