Day off Wednesday. Still really busy with work, but getting on top of my new project, pretty much completed of my old project, got loads of time off available, nice to have a day off. In the morning was T2's sports day. I would have popped along for half an hour and then back to work, but I was able to go to the whole thing.
There was free energy today 1, but from 3pm to 5pm, so I put a wash on early and set the timer on the tumble dryer, nice.
Sports day was at Three Hills sports centre, actually on the running track which I've not been on before. Weather held out, and he looked like he was having a good time, so it doesn't matter that he didn't place in either of his races.
Before heading home we went on an exotic shopping safari to Morrisons, and I bought a healthy lunch of samosas and doughnuts. I put the samosas in the Ninja, and now I'm wondering if the doughnuts would have been improved like this? Mostly it is the clear ingredient list of the doughnuts I like, but also the price - six for ninety pence.
This provided the energy for our big afternoon walk, me and a friend. He has the Ordnance Survey app and found The Folkestone Ridge Loop this time. It's a 17km circuit around Folkestone, very hilly. Picked mostly because it goes past The East Cliff Tavern at the far side of it, so that would be our destination. Weather held out again, though it was bracingly windy in parts.
I found some furniture outside the East Cliff Pavillion, looks good! I think that place is reopening again and so I suppose being refitted?
We got to the pub 13.5km into the official walk at about five to five. We drank until the cash ran out (it is cash only). The beer was really good there, Kent Brewery Tropic Ale, and then Prohibition also from the same brewery. It's a great pub, old fashioned, unspoiled. Nice and quiet, how we like it, but is it viable long term?
Then on to The Beer Shop where my friend did not like the only cask ale available, weird, cold, fruity, cloudy. Also the bartender squirted water in it for some reason, is it something they do to make it settle down quicker? Suspicious.
Next to The Firkin Ale House, and then to Green Spice in Sandgate for a delicious curry. Then home to snooze in my chair.
48Kph winds and light rain showers, 11 - 17℃.
5k: Five km, about three miles to you.
