Blog2024 ≫ Just gone 1am and it is 7-0 to Labour

This cannot keep up, and the early results are always for Labour, but it's looking like quite a whacking for the Tories.

The tory chairman Richard Holden who was parachuted from his risky seat to a "safe" seat in the south looks to have lost that safe seat too! It's probably too early to call this, but if this rumour is right this is next level unpopularity.

I need to go to bed soon, long before the 3.30am peak of declarations. Will I be sensible? Will I wait up until Clare comes in? Not sure yet.

A thought from the earlier Sunderland South result (who always declare first, 18000 votes for Labour, 11000 for the ukips, then 5000 for conservative). That vote not being split would have made it close. I think the ukips drew traditional Labour votes too, like some kind of shit magnet. So they will claim a huge influence, but did not actually sway it. Amazing though that this MP is not just the novelty MP from the constituency that is famous for declaring fast, but this time she's going to be education secretary!

Also of course t wasn't just racists who voted for reform.
