We came straight from Greenwich to work yesterday morning. We, T1 is doing work experience with me this week. He was quite apprehensive about it, but I found I was too when I got to work. We had a bit stand up call and I felt like I was the new boy in front of the class. He got a laptop and I showed him where the fizzy drinks and coffee where, and that's about all we achieved really. He started some coding training, but it was not quite pitched at entry level so he needed a few pointers. By the end of the day though he'd done the first exercise, and learned about assigning variables, how to do a condition and two different ways of doing a loop, so he's mostly there! If we can work out how do to the github copilot ai autocompleting he can do my job. I had mostly meetings so had to leave him on his own for a bit, but he also had an intro to the graduate scheme from one of our engineers who came in via that route.
For lunch we had my usual falafel wrap, as Leather Lane is also intimidating, too much choice. We have set ourselves a challenge to have something different for every meal, so something different for lunch today.
For dinner we walked around Kings Cross. Our Travelodge is between Farringdon and Kings Cross. I hope I have something different for dinner as I had nothing yesterday. We were after a takeaway, not too big as it was a big lunch and my manager bought us cakes too. Once he'd got his heart set on a Five Guys burger there was no changing that, so we went there. Not been before, and there are two reasons. Nothing vegan on the menu, no vege burger, the person at the counter didn't know if the "just the garnishes" vege sandwich was. Second reason his burger, fries, and milkshake came in at twenty four quid! When I am reading this back in years to come, in 2024 money that is quite a lot. Now there is a trick to it, that he missed, for that money you can have loads of toppings too but he had just the cheeseburger. You can have loads of toppings on the milkshake too, including bacon, but he only had cream. He did say it was a very good burger and milkshake and fries, and there was a lot of all of it. So after all that I wasn't hungry enough to queue up anywhere else so just got some nuts for me.
We have slept OK, though it was hot last night. Turned the aircon off as it is too noisy. Probably no breakfast this morning but a snack bar and coffees at the office. T1 has more cake left, I ate all the vegan cake, and also cookies. Might not be our healthiest week but not that bad either.
Tuesday is alays my busy day of meetings, I hope he's made himself enough notes of how to find out things to get on without me today.
Clare and T2 went to Puttshack and Madam Tussauds without us and had a whale of a time.
In gigversaries it was one year Friday since we last went to see KISS at the O2. Was it also really the exact same date in 1997 that I saw them in Finsbury Park? That's what I have here. Seems I have only ever seen KISS in July.
Light rain showers and a gentle breeze, 14 - 19℃.
