Blog2024 ≫ Relatively quiet weekend

Or does it just feel quieter when I am not drinking? I don't seem to have achieve much more for such abstemiousness. Yesterday I walked into Hythe, to the food fair, but it was only OK. Nice day again, very very hot, but nothing on the food side grabbed me. I did buy some coffee beans, and walked back.

I went in the new comic shop in Hythe, but found the range of comics too intimidating. They did have some old 2000ads, or so they said, but they were too new for me. They were in the gap between me originally stopping buying it and then the new job start up again. They have loads of Marvel and DC though including some proper old ones, I could have got a Black Panther number one for seventy quid, also some 1960s Batman. Maybe I'll go back again, hopefully I will, I'd like it to survive.

I bought some DVDs too, ridiculously. They are five for a quid in the charity shops at the moment, it's not worth the hassle of looking something up ont he streaming services for that. We have recently lost use of the shared Netflix account and don't think we're getting enough out of it to get our own subscription, so access to old films on demand is now more limited. So last night I watched Sherlock Holmes with the boys (one of the DVDs), and then most of The Batman after they'd gone to bed (this one on Amazon). I was staying up late so I could collect Clare from her night out at about midnight.

Today we walked to The Harbour Arm and played shuffleboard in The Board Room. Everyone loved it, the kids were quite good at it. Very enjoyable time. A lot quieter down there today as the weather is going off a bit. It's hot and a big muggy, but threatening to not be nice any moment now.

Tonight we're trying to choose another film (my choice of the next Sherlock Holmes is being poo-pooed. Time for me to go collect my Chinese takeaway from Phoenix in Folkestone now though.

Sultans Of Ping a pleasingly round thirty years ago today.

Partly cloudy and a gentle breeze, 13 - 20℃.

Estimated 1886 cups of coffee from my espresso machine 1 probably comes to £1.02 a cup (including actual coffee and now servicing 1 so not the electricity).
