Blog2024 ≫ How many work hostel trips is this now?

Finally got round to using the last setting on the Ninja. "Nuclear Winter". It was meant to be a slow cook. There's a reason no one slow cooks curry.

My burnt vegan chicken

That's fake chicken, was a Sunday afternoon closing Tesco freebie. I ate some this morning, was alright, but not worth keeping for the dinner I was planning. I put some in bagels for my lunch, with some mango chutney to soften the bitter burntness.

On the 7.30 train back to work. Often meet a mate in this one but not today, he might have changed days. Still not going in too many days which is good, but still going in too many days... Got a table facing forward, but two laptops out on it already, and the last opposite has her bag in the inside seat trying to reserve two seats, tut. Using a Thinkpad too. I'm my head that is becoming like "oh, Audi driver, of course" but I have not done a proper study yet.

My bag feels too heavy this morning, either I've got weaker or I've brought the wrong stuff. I do have some lunch, that burnt curry above shoehorned into bagels. Also a book, Mat Osman's The Ghost Theatre, a fantasy-ish tale of Elizabethan London. I quite like it.

Clare went to the Suede thing at the Albert Hall, it was in the Elgar room, not the main room, so only 200 people. Brett Anderson and Mat Osman's were there, they did an interview and a Q&A and a playback, nothing live.

Got the confirmation we have not got Cure tickets for the Radio 2 performance. Nephews are testing for the one off Troxy gig on the 1st, but they'll be lucky. We'll be at The Cult anyway.

Just found I have some content I saved from last week's trip, so there's something to look forward to 1.

Right, tapped all that above bit in on my phone on the train on the way to work. And now I'm back again! So how did the trip itself go? All quite smoothly. Work busy but not unbearably so. Heard about a new project I have been asked to join, hoping to be able to do even more of it from home , will see how that goes.

To the hostel after work, and this week I had a bed in a four bunk room for the same price. This was looking better only three other people with the potential to disturb me, compared to the usual nine or so.

My four bed room in the hostel this week

Weather OK so fine for the walk from the hostel to my regular haunt of Angel. I walked direct to the veg curry buffet place in Chapel Market, this time all the way there without checking directions. I've got this now. It was quite when I got in and sate down, but started to fill up. I got a few good plates of curry and salad and a couple of beetroot and turmeric waters, and off to the cinema. Megalopolis this time, the Francis Ford Coppola film. The story is ancient Roman, the setting is slightly futuristic USA. It's not as good as it should be, less than the sum of its parts. Some good performances in it but overall not that great.

Walking back to the hostel I saw A LOT of police. First a motorcade type thing went past me, through the red lights, sirens and lights, looked to be maybe six police cars accompanying a van. Then right after that a taped off section outside a pub, and another taped off section across the street, and more police all over it. Don't know what happened.

Back at the hostel the bar was buzzing but my second floor room at the far end of the corridor was quiet. The three other guests were already asleep in there and the night was quiet.

Missed some free Octopus Energy 2, forgot to sign up for it. And Clare has had the tumble dryer on twice.

Thundery showers and a moderate breeze, 15 - 18℃.

  1. It was actually from two weeks ago.
  2. Join Octopus Energy here and we both earn money.
