Blog2024 ≫ Day off

Medium achievious day off. Had a micro-lie-in, Clare got up first with the boys, I got up at half seven. We went for a walk to Hythe, it's a nice day. We went along Princes Parade, along the sea front, as far as The Lazy Shack. It looks nice, still a nice location, it hasn't moved. But it was a bit wet still to sit outside. Clare was not really inspired by the inside, being still a nice day, but we sat down anyway. Then I saw a big stack of "The Light" newspapers. "The uncensored truth", it says, but this is them, it is a far right conspiracy theory thing. I had seen a copy in the barber shop I use, which is a bit worrying, but to see stacks of them here is going to stop me going in there.

Instead we walked through Hythe, thought about Ivy's, but wanted to be sure of good coffee above all, really was not sure where to go. Settled on The Truffle Pig, it was quite nice, bit old ladyish. They did have a vegan cake, so I did have a vegan cake.

We also went past The Globe, the outside has been redecorated, I think it is opening again soon. There's no sign, I wonder if they are changing the name?

They are advertising for staff. Clare is not keen on the idea, she has her sights set quite high. I can see from files left open on here what she is applying for, but she's keeping very quiet about it. Hoping to just surprise us all I think.

We walked back again. We'd had a sticker put through the door, meant to go on the bin, saying "no food waste please". We always put our food waste in the food bin, but guessing not everyone does. We also had some kerbside food bin liners. Clare has said we should have these for ages, I think it's overly fussy. It's an outdoor bin, of course it's going to be disgusting! But as they're free, and she's usually right, we will give them a go. This meant I had to clean the bin, so got the pressure washer out. Also washed the big bin too. We surely have the cleanest bin on the street now.

I've also dropped a few bags off at a charity shop, finally, so I have a little more space in the study now.

Rest of the afternoon I've been trying to get the Sonos setup working. It's been such a disaster since they updated the app, most of it doesn't work and they don't seem to be planning to fix it. I read a thing saying you could download the old version of the app from an unofficial site, which I did, but it won't do anything, says I need to update. At least the TV sound still works, but again today I could not play my records, and I still cannot play my music off the NAS 1

Just waiting for T2 to come in from school, then will go and pick T1 up from school. He's staying late to do English booster lessons. He really does work quite hard, and he is surprisingly keen, and he is very clever indeed.

Clare has gone to No Such Thing As A Fish podcast recording, her friend has a spare ticket. She doesn't even listen to that one!

Sunny and a gentle breeze, 9 - 15℃.

Estimated 2074 cups of coffee from my espresso machine 2 (oh yes made my own coffees at home still as well as the one we had out) probably comes to £0.99 a cup (including actual coffee and servicing 2 but not the electricity).
