Blog2025 ≫ Neil Young is / isn't / IS playing Glastonbury

So after a little contractual confusion, some disagreement between Neil Young and Glastonbury and The Man (aka the bbc) it seems he is playing this year. And I can call it "this year" now, not "next year", nice! I think I've seen Neil Young before, I will see him again then. It's a full on granddad-rock lineup so far, I hope it keeps going this way.

Cold today, but no snow yet. Was too cold this morning for me to go out, I waited until lunchtime again. It was still cold, and some ice underfoot, but lovely and bright and clear and no wind or rain. I ran up the Canal Path to Twiss Road in Hythe, then back along Princes Parade. I figured a way of putting this detail in on my phone, which then comes directly back to this blog via other means, so this is likely to appear twice. As will this little chunk below!

These are my average kilometre running times during January since I've been doing Runuary. (This week only.) Second best pace for a 03/01.

date '19 '20 '21 '22 '23 '24 2025
01/01 5'54 4'20 4'52 5'09 6'15 5'43 5'32
02/01 15'49 4'47 5'11 5'03 5'27 5'14
03/01 5'13 5'42 4'42 5'17 5'40 5'48 5'10

I wasn't running fast today, I even had to stop to tie my shorts up again for a good thirty seconds, so not sure why it is a good pace. Maybe I was just particularly slow on the third of dryanuary-runuary in previous years. Maybe I'll even speed up!

I will be running again in the morning of course, running every day this month in case I didn't mention it. Back to parkrun, but on my own, no T1 this time. We're planning to go to London tomorrow for the day, so I'm going to get the bus in, run, run to the train station, where hopefully Clare and the boys will be waiting for me with a pair of trousers. This has worked before, but it does have the potential to go horribly wrong. If London gets cancelled, I will get a lift home.

I can quite see it being just about safe enough to go to London for fun shopping, but too dangerous for commuting later in the week.

Partly cloudy and light winds, -1 - 5℃.

dryanuary: Not drinking for the month of January.

runuary: Running probably 5k every day for the month of January.
