Blog2025 ≫ Non-drinking Dover megalash

Went out to Dover after a busy day of work yesterday. Still dryanuary so I drove my friends to Dover so they could enjoy a beer in a pub we don't go to very often.

First to Breakwater Brewery, but it was surprisingly busy for January. All the tables were reserved, so we had to perch at the bar. This made us think twice about getting pizza there, so after two non alcoholic Ghost Ships (for me) we moved on.

We walked down through Dover town center to The Hoptimist, the micropub. It's good there, but not quite as good for me on the Guinness 0%, nice enough though it is. A couple of them was enough, so then on to Calcutta Port, an Indian restaurant we'd been to before. It was empty when we got there and no-one else came in all the time we were eating, though there were a few delivery drivers collecting orders to take out for Deliveroo and Just-Eat and the like. I like it there as they have a special vegan menu. I had chilli garlic vegetable, cumin rice, and some potato side that I can't remember.

Then drove home by about half ten - a later night than I would have had if I was drinking.

dryanuary: Not drinking for all of January.
