After I'd done another Tesco shop yesterday morning we took a walk down to Sandgate. Plan was to get a cafe lunch, sausage rolls or something. The cafes were too full though, it being Sandgate and a nice Saturday, so what do you know we had to go to the pub. We went in The Ship because they did have sausage rolls on the menu, but no-one ordered this anyway. I had a really good courgette and falafal flatbread, really tasty but quite hard to eat. The boys had one loaded fries and one nachos, and they really were stacked high and looked good. Clare just had a bit of everyone elses as she was saving herself for dinner late. I had a beer, a nice pint of the same real ale I'd had in the Potting Shed the night before. The fire was lit and the place was just lively enough, mostly with other diners. The Ship seems to be just getting it right right now. We should go back for a dinner some point soon, I will raise it with some friends.
I left the others to finish up and raced back home because there was free energy to be had 1, and I didn't have anything set on a timer. I had had to leave the washing going so it would be ready to dry in our two hours of free electricity, and then put a hot wash on at the same time. And then just to be sure I was getting the full benefit I played some records and put some coffee on. I'd just had a pay day delivery, a knock box for tapping out my espresso puck, instead of having to keep whacking it on the side. I also got another smart thermostatic radiator valve, will try and fit that today.
Not really a lot of time to spare after this, so my plans to do a bit of painting went out the window. We had to get ready then for our second meal out of the day, we were off to Sotirio's with some friends. Picked them up and left the car in Folkestone, and had a lovely meal, with cocktails. I had the roasted aubergine again, it was nice, but it's the welcome and the service that really makes that place nice.
After we had a couple in the Firkin Alehouse, and then a taxi home. Not drinking for the rest of the week to make up for all that!
Today just waiting for T1 to get up and I have a light switch to replace in his room, and might get that radiator valve on too. Shopping has just been delivered, but I'll still do my bin food run later. Third Tesco trip of the weekend.
Playing more records and going to have another coffee now. Just realised a song I like that comes on Sonos radio occasionally is on this compilation that I have, so I have Unguarded Moment by The Church on vinyl, nice.
Sunny and light winds, -1 - 8℃.
Estimated 2332 cups of coffee from my espresso machine 2 prob'ly comes to £0.95 a cup (including 3+ years of coffee beans and servicing 2 but not the electricity).
