Whatever happened to that idea? From here, twenty years ago.
Listened to the "And The Rest Is Entertainment" podcast with Richard Osman and Marina Hyde, and they said this year's Glastonbury lineup is not the worst one ever, so that's already. Yes there will be some pop acts on there that I have not heard of, that's fine, I'm in my fifties. I think it would be good for the headliners to have some longevity. Maybe The 1975 and Olivia Rodrigo will stick around. I still can't help feeling there have to be some significantly bigger acts still to be added though.
They did have some interesting bits in there, trying to find the best and worst Glastonbury, without actually saying which were the best and worst by comparing headliners from other years. 1995 got a shout out for having The Cure, Pulp, and Oasis, we were at that one, and saying that was a bit of a tipping point as the previous year had The Levellers, Peter Gabriel, and The Pretenders as headliners. I was at that one too and have always remembered it as being Rage Against The Machine who headlined, but they were just below The Levellers on the main stage. Also I think The Pretenders played on the NME stage, so who was the other main stage headliner? Wikipedia says it was Elvis Costello.
He did not say who he thought the worst Glastonbury lineup was but he did call out 1992 when he said the headliners were Carter USM, Shakespeare's Sister, and The Shamen, but again he's picked a second stage band there.
I have cancelled my train ticket for tomorrow and got a refund, as there is actually no-one else in the office for me to even speak to.
