Blog2025 ≫ Last minute half day off Friday

Friday worked in the morning, then we got the call from the school to say yes, we should have had an invite to prize day after all. Too late notice for Clare to get out, but I did. So finished at lunchtime and drove to the Leas Cliff Hall and got in on a special guest list. Saw the boy collect his Duke of Edinburgh award and met him after in the suite for tea and cake. Only the prize winners in this bit, so poor T2 had to wait outside on a bench. He'd had to attend the ceremony, but no prize, and no cake. T1 didn't know I was there until I saw him at that point, so he was pleased. The guest handing out the prizes this time was our MP Tony Vaughan. Not Legend off Gladiators then. Maybe next year.

We met up with T2 again and home, via the shop to get something for their tea, then Clare and I went to The Fountain to sit in their beer garden. It was surprisingly busy in the pub, saw lots of the neighbours. Something to do with it being nice weather and the last day of term. We were the only ones in the garden though. It was nicer than expected, but we still only stayed for one. Then she home, and me to The Potting Shed for the rest of the evening. I walked home without getting a Chinese takeaway, good boy.
