In case I never get round to writing it all up, here is a very brief summary. We went

Not bad eh? Definitely inspired by Race Across The World. We flew to the start line and from the finish line but the rest was all trains, buses, and boats. We had to fly home again via Zurich too. Imagine if that hadn't been one of the stops already? We could have done more countries!

Germany was not a deliberate choice, but we ended up stopping long enough for food and drink there as a train was delayed and we missed our connection, but it definitely counts! Also Bratislava, we were only there for half a day, but that was a properly planned thing, not just a pit stop.

We could have organised it a bit better, and indeed we did try to reduce the time in Switzerland after we'd booked it but we couldn't extend our time in Italy, so didn't bother in the end. It was great fun.

I will try and keep up to date with the rest of the details, without bragging too much.

  2. This is Lake Garda, but as all the others are the name of the city rather than the name of the region, Desenzano del Garda is the name of the town we were in. We also went to neighbouring Sirmione.
