Lawks, I just wrote my first XBMC 1 plugin, and it worked first time, and it's working live, updating tracks on last.fm with my genre tags as I listen to them - see my profile for more:
You tagged The Wombats - Guillotine with indie. 2 minutes ago You tagged Bauhaus - Hair of the Dog with bootleg, live, goth and 2 other tags. 7 minutes ago
I use those genre tags to make the VENN of ROCK and other charts of what I'm listening to that are in the sidebar over there -> Previously I was updating those tags using a plugin that I wrote for Media Monkey, but as I don't play music on the PC much any more it was not getting updated.
This is not just my first XBMC 1 plugin, it's my first ever python. I copied most of it from the last.fm scrobbler plugin provided by the XBMC 1 team, but still, I did not expect it to work so smoothly. I will offer my changes back to the core.
I was planning to spend the rest of the evening working on this, but now I'm done!
